Support Emily’s Fight Against Stage 3 Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
My name is Debra and I have created this GoFundMe page for my dear, sweet, beautiful and caring friend Emily, her partner Savarna and her young boys, Connor and Lincoln. Emily was diagnosed on January 9th with breast cancer. She had felt a lump on the top of her right breast and had a biopsy taken. The bad news was extremely out of the blue and a huge shock, not only for Emily (who was only 29!), but for her family, her two young sons, her partner Savarna, and her friends. For the past 9 gruelling months, the medical details have been slowly unfolding, with a surgery and many doctors' appointments bringing more clarity in regards to the scope of the cancer and what path to take. The official diagnosis is stage 3 breast cancer, HER2 positive, in the right breast with 3 lymph nodes also positive for cancer. She and her medical team have opted for chemotherapy, radiation and a mastectomy with full reconstruction.
So far Emily has undergone breast surgery, 16 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy, and 18 rounds of HER2 drip treatment. The rounds of HER2 drip are still in progress (set to end in May next year). During this time she also had her 30th birthday, missing out on a fun, celebratory overseas holiday with her partner, twin sister and close friends. They all made sure she was right there with them though, taking photos of her with a prop so that she wouldn’t feel like she had missed out.
At the start of October she will be having a single mastectomy on her right side, with an expander put in to hold the shape allowing her to be able to get an implant. She will be in Melbourne for up to a week in hospital and has other specialist appointments organised while she is there. After 2-3 weeks post operation, she will be receiving radiation treatment in Melbourne. This will be every weekday for 3-6 weeks.
Emily lives in a rural area in country Victoria. During this time she will be leaving her two beautiful young boys at home, in the care of family. Emily knows the road ahead won't be easy, but she’s determined to face it head-on and do whatever it takes to overcome this challenge.
Treatment and recovery will be challenging in all ways, mentally, physically, emotionally and financially. Luckily, we can all help her out! The estimated costs of her medical bills and extensive travel expenses are estimated to cost her around $25,000. Emily mentioned that she isn’t thrilled asking for monetary assistance but she feels that the medical expenses are getting too much for her to cope with. The fundraising goal is set for $25,000 to provide assistance in the following areas; medical bills, monthly bills, petrol, groceries, travelling costs (Emily will have to travel and stay in Melbourne for treatment), and the unexpected expenses we all inevitably encounter every month. She also started a new job just prior to her diagnosis, and will struggle without receiving adequate income from work. Your donations go swiftly and directly to Emily.
Anything you can donate, large or small, will help relieve her financial burden! If cancer has impacted you or your family’s life in some way, please feel free to make a donation in memory of a loved one or in honor of someone currently battling the disease.
All funds will help Emily and her family with medical expenses.
Thank you for your kind and generous support! It’s so greatly appreciated!
Please share her story!
xx
