Emily started having headaches in December of 2025. The headaches became more severe, and she began feeling unwell more often as each day passed. By December 6th, Emily was so sick that she needed to go to the ER for further treatment. After a series of tests and scans, doctors discovered a mass deep in the temporal lobe of her brain. Just four days later, surgeons at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN performed a successful surgery in that much of the tumor was resected but not all of it could be removed due to its location.

Emily and her family received the difficult news that the remaining part of the tumor is a Stage 4 Glioblastoma, a very aggressive cancer. Since then, Emily has been navigating a series of challenging health care appointments and decisions. She and Kevin, with the incredible help of family and friends, are working tirelessly to find the best care teams for her. They are meeting with specialists from Allina and Mayo Clinic next week and looking into a very promising treatment option in Germany that would have to be out of pocket. Emily is the main income source for the family and Emily holds the family’s health insurance coverage as Kevin is self-employed part-time and stay at home dadding part-time.
