Support Emilys cancer recovery

Donation protected
My dear friend Emily needs your help!

Emily was diagnosed with the genetic BRCA 1+ mutation gene when she was 33 years old. She had a preventative double mastectomy at age 34 with great success, however, when she recently had a preventative hysterectomy, the surgeons found that she has stage 3 cancer that spread to her stomach and diaphragm.  She is just 39 years old.

Emily’s Mom died at the age of 46 of pancreatic cancer after a short 6 month battle.  Her Grandmother died a few years later of breast cancer and a broken heart from losing her daughter.  Emily’s Aunt has been fighting the same ovarian cancer diagnosis for the past 8 years. Cancer has taken almost all of the women in her family.

Emily started her first round of chemotherapy earlier this week and will continue this treatment for the next four and a half months or more, and will need time to recover from her chemo and cancer after that.

Those of you who know her, know that Emily is a true warrior and an amazing mother, wife, and friend. She is passionate about her life, her family, her children and her work. In addition, she is expecting her first grandchild in September and fully plans to stick around to watch her children and grandchildren grow up.

Please join me in supporting Emily in taking time off of work so that she can focus on healing and recovery from her experience of cancer. Emily is always generous with others, and she is a contribution to everyone whose lives she touches; we now have a chance to give back to her!

WHATEVER you can contribute will make a difference.

On behalf of Emily and her family,

THANK YOU!

If you would like to know more, I have included Emily’s story here:

I married my husband in February of 2014 and we welcomed a beautiful healthy and happy little girl who was born on my 37th birthday, August 12th, 2015. Although I’ve been under surveillance for Cancer since my BRCA 1+ diagnosis, I’ve always been told by doctors that removal of my all my reproductive organs including ovaries & fallopian tubes was the safest thing for me to do when I was done having kids. Our daughter Kali Rose completed our family! In hindsight, it would have been wise to go ahead with my final preventative surgeries very soon after she was born, but adjusting to a whole new level of busy life being a new mom all over again while working full time as a Realtor in LA made the idea of stopping for a surgery really daunting. But I knew it had to be done.

In January of 2018, my husband blessed our family with some awesome PPO health insurance and I immediately took advantage of it looking for the right Gynecological Oncologist to follow my BRCA 1+ case and perform my preventative hysterectomy. My instincts led me to Dr. Richard Friedman at the Disney Cancer Center in Burbank and after waiting 4 months to get in to see him, my turn finally came in early April 2018. I immediately LOVED him! Such kindness, compassion & a wealth of knowledge. I was scheduled for surgery May 8th and got to work preparing all aspects of my life for me to take a few days off to recover. Super Mom was taking a quick break! I had allowed myself one week to recover, and had meetings & appointments, baby showers, etc scheduled the following week!

God had other plans for me....May 8th, 2018 my life changed forever. My life took on a whole new meaning & direction. My life was SAVED! I was dying and I didn’t even know it. Dr. Friedman told my hubby I’d be out in 45min to an hour tops as they wheeled me off to the OR.... It ended up being 5 hours because they found cancer and it had spread several places in my tummy & diaphragm.... Ovarian Cancer stage 3C....but ironically women with my BRCA gene mutation respond really well to chemo & have a higher survival rate & they are telling me that I can be cured so I WILL BE! Mark my words.

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around it. It’s shocking & scary but I am so BLESSED! Thank God they found it now because I’m told if I had waited even a couple months I may not have survived. ‍♀️So blessed to be in the care of these Oncologists at The Disney Cancer Center & Saint Joseph’s hospital. They have the best of the best care for what I have.

This is actually a great cleansing & teacher to me on how to live life because I know God wants me to slow down and love myself more and allow others to love & care for me...

Preparing myself now...mind, body & soul for the fight of my life!

Let’s do this!
