Support Emily's Cancer Journey

Hello, my name is Bryn and I am writing on behalf of my best friend Emily of 16 years, who I consider a sister. Emily is 20 years old and has been a positive role model, daughter, friend, and sister throughout her life. She loves reading books, spending her summer at the cottage, and caring for her dogs.
In October of 2017, Emily was diagnosed with Rare Serous Carcinoma which heavily affected her ovaries and resulted in an invasive surgery. Doctors said there was no guarantee that the cancer was gone, and that there was a possibility the tumours could grow back. After a successful surgery, Emily eased herself back into her daily life by working full time at her local grocery store. She was excited to attend university in the fall, pursuing in Biological science. In June of 2018, things took an unexpected turn and Emily was admitted back to the hospital with pains in her lower back. After further examination, it was clear that the tumours grew back around her stomach. Emily began chemotherapy soon after the diagnosis to help shrink the tumours. Chemotherapy is quite harsh on the body, which caused Emily to experience full hair loss, nausea, extreme fatigue and dehydration that resulted in seizures. After the seizures took place, complications in her colon begun right after. Emily has since been in the hospital for over a month. Since her colon was infected the doctors wanted her to be fed through an IV (TPN), and only just recently has she been allowed to leave the hospital for day trips.
The goal in creating this page is to help Emily pay for her schooling, that she is still eager to attend this fall. Emily has always enjoyed going to school and has been preparing for University for over a year now. Since she has been in the hospital for over a month, she was unable to work and make money to pay for school. Emily is in no way the type of person to ask for help, even when she needs it. She shouldn't need the additional stress of paying for school, on top of her health.
Emily is very thankful for all the support from everyone this past year. I have always admired Emily's positivity and bravery towards her entire journey. Throughout all the diagnoses, surgeries, scares and treatment she has managed to still be the same Emily I have known and loved for 16 years. I think I can speak for everyone who knows Emily, that she amazes us every day with her strength and ambition.
Thank you for all of your support. Any donation helps in order to make my best friends dreams come true!
