From Meal Train to GoFundMe: Supporting Emily, Josh & Rowan

Over the past several weeks, so many of you have generously donated meals and shared love with Emily and Josh as they’ve begun to navigate an unimaginably difficult journey. What started as a simple Meal Train has grown into a powerful expression of community support—and now, as Emily begins a longer and more intensive treatment plan than initially expected, many have asked how else they can help.

We’ve created this GoFundMe to provide a way for friends, family, and extended community to contribute directly to Emily’s ongoing care, medical expenses, and the support they’ll need for their 19-month-old son, Rowan. We thank all of you who have already donated in some way and ask that you help share this Go Fund Me with others.

Emily's Journey

On February 5th, Emily experienced sudden speech and comprehension issues that led her to the ER. After a series of tests, doctors discovered a lesion on her brain. Following additional evaluations, the lesion was identified as a tumor.

On March 14th, Emily underwent awake brain surgery at UCLA hospital to remove the tumor from her temporal lobe. Thanks to her strength and her incredible care team, she’s been recovering steadily—regaining her speech and comprehension day by day.

However, on March 27th, the pathology report confirmed what we had feared: the tumor was cancerous. Emily was diagnosed with a Stage 4 high-grade glioma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

What Comes Next

Emily will begin intensive radiation and chemotherapy the week of April 14th in hopes of preventing regrowth and eliminating any remaining cancer cells.

This journey is far from over—and it’s one that comes with significant emotional and financial strain.
