Hi, my name is Emily and I am running my fundraiser to support people who are going through cancer by making care baskets. I am a year 9 student who is doing a school project, where I have to help my community in some way and I chose something that has affected my family and I throughout our lives.
This cause it really important to me because cancer has affected my family greatly. Fortunately I have not experienced cancer myself, but I have watched people who are or were very close to me go through it. All four of my grandparents have had cancer and only two have survived. I was old enough to remember how hard it was to go through what they went through. I lost one of my grandfathers to cancer just last year as well as my grandmother when I was only eight years old. I know that I can't help them in a way that it cures them, but I know that I may be able to still improve how they are feeling mentally and help them become more comfortable.
The funds will be used to buy polar fleece for blankets to be made by hand by me. The funds will also be used for other materials such as wool, weighted beads, and any other essentials for items in the baskets. If any money is left over, it will be donated to a charity that supports cancer patients.
Just five dollars would be great! If you donate 20 you have just paid for a whole blanket for someone who needs a bit of comfort and support through such a difficult time.
Thank you.
