Support Emily Quintana's Musical Journey

My name is Emily Quintana, I was born in Quito, Ecuador and I have played the oboe since I was 7 years old. After graduating from high school my dream was to travel outside of the country to develop my career as a musician and to build myself as an oboe player. I came to E.E.U.U and currently I am coursing my second year of College at Michigan State University. Dr. Nermis Mieses, oboe professor here at MSU has been guiding my path for growing as an oboist. I have been part of different ensembles, such as Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony, which have encouraged even more my development as an oboist.

As an international student, studying abroad demands a lot of effort and courage, not only for being in another country, with different culture, language, traditions, but also I had to find different jobs that could help me to pay my tuition in college.

My family, back in Ecuador, has been supporting me financially this two years, and this Fall 2024 semester I was able to get my first professional instrument, which was indispensable for keep pushing my talent.

Although, the purchase of it has created a deficit on my economical stability.

I have got two jobs, the first one as an Event Manager at the College of Music, in which I am in charge of the logistics of different performances and events: and I also work as a Student Cook at the Dining Halls inside campus. The income of both jobs could let me get the amount of money for my new instrument, plus the support of my family. But now the savings for paying my Spring semester on 2025 are tight, and my options are few.

My name is Emily Quintana, I am an oboist and I am looking for different ways of financial support in which I can stay at MSU studying music, and in that way achieving my dream of become a professional musician.
