Emily, one of the most amazing humans we know, is fighting an ultra-rare autoimmune disease that attacks her kidneys -- Dense Deposit Disease. She originally began showing symptoms as a 8 year old girl and then was officially diagnosed in 2018. The disease had stabilized completely for years until lab results came back last week (on 9/11/24) showing that she was in end-stage kidney failure. She spent the next 6 days in Seattle in the hospital going through testing and surgeries in order to begin dialysis. She will now be on dialysis as a life-saving measure to clean her blood in the way her kidneys no longer can. Given her level of kidney failure, dialysis will be a necessity until she can hopefully qualify for a kidney transplant! The road for Emily and her family is long and has just begun. Medical bills have already racked up from her long hospital stay; dialysis is an extremely expensive treatment, and she will continue to have countless medical appointments locally in Ellensburg, but also many more in Seattle to meet with her specialists.
Emily spends her time supporting her kids, her friends and family and her community. The Johnsons are often first in line to support others when there is a need. Now it’s our turn to show up for them. Please consider supporting Emily and her wonderful boys in any way that you can. Donations can be made here or via Venmo to @Emilyjoy22. Thank you for your love and support!
