My name is Emily Huizar, I’m a freshman in highschool and I am a member of the Mupu 4-H Club in Santa Paula, California. This year I’m excited to be raising a market lamb as part of my 4-H livestock project. It is my first time being a part of 4-H, raising and showing a lamb. Through this experience, I am learning many valuable life skills like patience, responsibility, and record keeping that will stay with me for many years to come.

On Sunday March 30th 2025, I went to Jason Pavletich’s sheep farm in Bakersfield. There I picked out a beautiful ewe that I named Pumpkin. Below you will find a QR code to scan and you’ll be able to see weekly updates about the progress of Pumpkin from start to finish.

I would love it if you could come out and morally support me and Pumpkin, during the auction at the Ventura County Fair on August 8th, 2025. Not only is there just the auction but you will also be able to get food, drinks, see cool things and get on the rides.

Participating in 4-H is a rewarding but a significant investment. Between the cost of purchasing the lamb, feed, and supplies, expenses add up. That’s why I’m reaching out to local community members and businesses to request sponsorship or donations to help support my project. I completely understand if you are unable to donate but any contribution, no matter the size, would be deeply appreciated. Even just coming to the Ventura county fair on August 8th, 2025 and showing your support would be a huge help. On our social media pages there will be more information.
