Support Emily Huezo Cercena

Emily is a 29 year old administrator at Tulane University. As a New Orleans native and a graduate of Imacculata High School, she has dedicated her life to the service of others. She recently returned from Washington D.C. where she earned her masters degree in bioethics and worked for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as an Executive Assistant in General Council. She is known for her kind nature and willingness to help those around her.

On February 21 of this year, Emily was admitted to the hospital for what she thought was a migraine headache. After further testing, Emily was diagnosed with a brain tumor and they were able to remove most of the tumor in surgery two days later.  As she awaits further testing to determine the severity, one thing we do know is that this will require rigorous and costly treatment. Emily just began a new job at Tulane and is not eligible for FMLA. Her husband, Anton, is a Religion teacher at Archbishop Shaw High School and has been by her side constantly. Our hope is to help alleviate the financial burden so suddenly placed on this newly wedded couple as they attempt to navigate through this very trying time.
