My name is Kim LaMorte, and I am organizing this fundraiser for my older sister, Emily Hoover, because she would never ask for this herself. As the eldest child, Emily has spent her life caring for others and guiding the way for myself and our younger brother. She is endlessly giving and always the first to offer to help others.
About 1 month ago, our world came to a halt when Emily found out she has Triple Negative Breast Cancer, an aggressive form of the disease, at only 32 years old. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and awaiting a plan for surgery.
In addition to her current fight, she recently lost most of her personal belongings in an apartment fire this past August. She has been recovering from that loss to be hit by another challenge.
Emily never asks for help and often feels guilty even needing it. She is one of the most selfless people I know. She danced for 46 straight hours for THON while in college to fundraise for children with cancer, and she ran the New York City Marathon as part of Team for Kids to support youth community organizations. I took this step on her behalf because I want her to know that she does not have to choose between her health, her future, and financial fear. She deserves to be able to pursue every avenue that could help her heal without the added burden of shame, stress, or long-term emotional trauma around finances.
All funds raised will go directly toward Emily’s medical expenses, including uncovered treatments, supportive care, fertility preservation, and essential costs during any upcoming periods when she may not be able to work.
No donation is too small, and every contribution makes a difference. If you’re unable to donate, we are deeply grateful for thoughts, prayers, positive messages, and sharing this page. Every bit of love and support means more than words can express.
Thank you for supporting Emily during the most difficult chapter of her life, and for helping her move toward a future filled with healing and love.
Much love,
Kim LaMorte
