If you know Emily, you know how incredibly strong, selfless, and hardworking she is. She is the type of person who gives everything her all and loves people deeply. Even during some of the darkest and most painful seasons of her life, she continues to show up for the people around her, celebrating their biggest moments, supporting them through hard times, and being the friend everyone can count on. She carries so much with grace, often without anyone realizing what she’s personally walking through.

For the past few years, Emily and Cam have been quietly battling the heartbreak of infertility. They have already endured three unsuccessful IUI cycles, and they are now approaching their fourth and final IUI before having to move on to IVF. Their journey has been filled with emotional highs and devastating lows, all while trying to remain hopeful.

To make things even harder, they’ve had to travel to a clinic far from home for treatment, often making an almost 4-hour round trip for appointments. During nursing school, I watched Emily wake up before sunrise for these appointments and still come back in time for our 12-hour clinical shifts. I truly don’t know how she did it. Through exhaustion, heartbreak, financial stress, and mental strain, she continued pushing forward.

After their insurance denied all fertility claims, Emily and Cam have been forced to pay completely out of pocket. They are now facing IVF, which costs around $20,000, an overwhelming financial burden for any family.

I’ve had a front row seat watching my best friend struggle mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially through this journey, and somehow she still continues to hold her head high and fight for her future. I am endlessly proud of her strength and resilience.
