Hi everyone! My name is Sophia. I am a friend of Emily Alane. Emily is a strong and extraordinary woman who works endless days as a nurse, going above and beyond for each of her residents. After not showing up to a shift (which is very unlike her) a welfare check was called to her home. Emily was found unconscious and quickly taken to the hospital. From there they decided she needed to be life flighted to a hospital in Kansas City. It was determined that she had a blocked bile duct and went septic. During her month long stay she was put on ECMO and on a ventilator. After many ups and downs she was able to be taken off of support from the machines and eventually start her journey to recovery. Unfortunately due to the medicine she was on that caused loss of blood flow, Emily had to get part of both feet amputated. Emily is home and recovering now but when all of this happened she did not have insurance.
