Help Emilie and Her Newborn Son Fight Spina Bifida

I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Emilie, a loving and resilient mother who is facing one of the toughest challenges a parent can imagine. Her beautiful baby boy, Mason, was recently born with spina bifida, a serious and lifelong condition that affects the spine and spinal cord.

The diagnosis came as a shock. Throughout her pregnancy, Emilie remained hopeful and strong, but nothing could have fully prepared her for this. From the moment Mason came into the world, Emilie has poured every ounce of love and energy into his care. She’s been by his side in the NICU, learning medical terms and procedures most of us will thankfully never have to know.

Spina bifida requires immediate and ongoing medical attention — including surgeries, specialist visits, physical therapy, and adaptive equipment. Emilie has already had to take an extended leave from work, and the financial burden is becoming overwhelming. From mounting hospital bills to transportation costs, daily living expenses, and long-term care planning, the road ahead is full of uncertainty.

Emilie is the kind of person who shows up for others — now she needs us to show up for her.
