Help Us Launch EMHSA: A Safer, More Human Response to Mental Health Crises
When someone is experiencing a mental health crisis, the response they receive can change the trajectory of their life.
Too often, the only option available is a 911 call—leading to police involvement, escalation, fear, and sometimes devastating outcomes. Families and communities deserve alternatives that center care, dignity, and safety.
That’s why we are launching Emergency Mental Health Services Auxilium) (EMHSA).
What Is EMHSA?
EMHSA is a community-centered initiative designed to help people experiencing mental health crises access appropriate, non-police-centered support whenever possible. Our vision is to create a tool that helps connect individuals and families to trained mental health responders, crisis resources, and safer pathways to care.
EMHSA is not about replacing emergency services. It’s about expanding options—especially for situations where law enforcement is not the best or safest response.
Why This Matters
Mental health crises are human moments—often frightening, confusing, and deeply vulnerable. When the response is mismatched to the need, harm can occur even when everyone involved has good intentions.
We believe:
Crisis response should prioritize de-escalation
People deserve to be treated with respect and humanity
Communities need more tools, not just one default option
What We’re Raising Funds For
Your support will help us take the first critical steps toward making EMHSA real. Initial fundraising will be used to:
Develop a minimum viable version (MVP) of the EMHSA platform using a no-code tool
Conduct community research and stakeholder conversations
Clarify ethical, legal, and operational boundaries
Create foundational materials needed for future grants, pilots, and partnerships
This phase is about building responsibly, thoughtfully, and sustainably.
Who We Are
EMHSA is a 501c3 that has been developed by a small, mission-driven team with backgrounds in education, information access, community engagement, and advocacy. We are approaching this work with humility, care, and a deep respect for the complexity of mental health systems.
We are not clinicians—and EMHSA is not a treatment service. It is a bridge, designed to help people reach the right kind of help at the right time.
How You Can Help
By donating, sharing, or simply spreading the word, you are helping to imagine a future where mental health crises are met with compassion instead of fear, and support instead of force.
Every contribution—no matter the size—moves us closer to creating safer options for individuals, families, and communities.
Thank you for believing that we can do better, together.
