Support Emerald and Her Daughter After Devastating Storm

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

I hope this message finds you in good spirits. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share my experience during the unexpected storm brought by Hurricane Helene in Augusta, Georgia on Thursday night/Friday morning. What started as a regular night turned into a devastating experience… a tree fell onto my roof, causing significant damage to my bedroom and my home. I thank God we were not in our home at the time; had we been, my daughter and I wouldn’t be here today because the tree would have fallen on us in my room. I am truly devastated. I can’t completely process that this has happened yet, but I am on the path of solidifying a plan until my home is livable again. I understand that everyone says things can be replaced and I should be happy I am safe. This is true, and I am definitely grateful my daughter and I are still alive because things could’ve been worse. Please understand it is okay for me to be sad about my things; this is a home I put together, after all.

As a result of this storm, I have lost everything—my clothes, shoes, personal belongings, and a safe place to call home.

I find myself in desperate need of support. I am trying to rebuild my life and cover some essential living expenses. This includes gas for transportation, food, water, and basic necessities. My city is currently experiencing no water, no electricity, and phone service that’s consistently on and off. Any contributions you can make will go directly toward helping me get back on my feet and having a stable living situation.
