Hi, my name is Emely and earlier this year, I rescued a mama dog and her 8 tiny puppies who were abandoned in a box on the side of a dangerous highway in the Dominican Republic. Out of those puppies, 4 survived—and today, they are thriving as a little pack we call Lucky & the Duckies (Lucky is the mom, then we got RAM, Love, Golden and Pinguina).
These dogs mean the world to me. They’ve grown up knowing only love and safety since the day I found them, and now my dream is to bring them with me to the United States so we can be together forever.
Unfortunately, getting them to the U.S. is not simple. Because the Dominican Republic is classified as high risk for rabies by the CDC, the only way to bring them is through cargo flights with special import requirements. I was given a discounted quote of $4,000 to fly them to Washington, D.C. (IAD). Once they arrive, the CDC requires a special import appointment that costs $960 per dog.
A transport company will donate bringing them from IAD all the way to Houston but still
The total cost is overwhelming, but I know I can’t give up on them. They are my family.
I’m asking for your help—every donation, big or small, goes directly to their travel, medical requirements, and import fees. Even sharing this campaign helps us more than you know.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping Lucky & the Duckies finally come home. ✨
With gratitude,
Emely, Lucky & girls
