Support Ember's Emergency Surgery

My name is Mercedes, and this is Ember, my first puppy. She is a bundle of excitable joy and has been such a good co-pilot for all of my hikes, car rides, and camping since I picked her up in 2019.

A few days ago I woke up worried she didn't do her morning wiggles and hellos to me first thing. I thought maybe she was feeling lazy sleeping in the sun spot in the living room.

Ember progressively started to get worse to the point where she stopped leaving her bed and had little interest in eating. After two or so days, on Friday evening, I knew there was something wrong.

Saturday morning I called around to the vets nearby and no one had time to see her, and they all referred me to the Emergency Vet Clinic in Mount Vernon.

As the morning progressed, she started to pass a lot of bloody discharge, and after finally making it to the emergency clinic, they told me she has "Pyometra."

This is a condition where the uterus becomes infected and starts filling with fluid. This can be very deadly and needed to be treated immediately and aggressively.

We were very lucky that her cervix was open enough to let some of that fluid pass, because it was filling very quickly, and my baby was in pain.

For the size of the dog and severity of the condition, this bill will run me up to over $5,000.
