Dear friends,

Please join me in supporting my dear friend Em North as they navigate some medical challenges and access the care they need. In early March, Em received the difficult news that they have early-stage breast cancer. Fortunately, it was detected before progressing to a more advanced stage. However, Em is scheduled to have a mastectomy in early September, with the hope that this surgery will eliminate the need for further treatments like radiation.

As a self-employed tattoo artist, Em does not receive paid medical leave or disability benefits. Over the past year and a half, they’ve already had to take time off due to several other medical procedures. On top of that, the ongoing recession has significantly impacted their ability to secure consistent work, even when they’ve been available to work.

Em is now turning to community support to help cover living expenses during their 6-week recovery period. This includes housing, utilities, groceries, and medical bills. Any funds raised beyond their initial goal will help address past-due bills and provide a financial cushion as they work to regain stability and seek out future employment.
