Support Elyse's Fight and Young Family's Hope

My name is Kristen Hudson, and I have been a friend of Annemarie and Craig Young and their family for many years. On Thursday, May 16th, 2024, Annemarie and Craig got the phone call that no parent ever wants. Their sweet daughter Elyse was in a horrible car accident and was in critical condition.
Within the first 15 minutes of arriving at the hospital, Elyse had already gone through 22 units of blood and 4 CAT scans as the trauma staff desperately sought to discover the source(s) of all her bleeding. Skilled surgeons were able to stabilize the bleeding, and worked tirelessly for 36 hours to see Elyse through these first touch-and-go hours as they all fought to save her life.
Elyse has had several surgeries since then to control bleeding, to remove damaged organs (that they described as being the consistency of oatmeal), to reattach those severely damaged organs that could be saved (which miraculously came back to life), and to set her broken ankle. There have been complications, and there have been miracles. Many ups, and many downs. This will be a long recovery for Elyse.
While the Young family does have healthcare, we all know that all these hospital bills and the need for intense aftercare is going to get very costly. It is hard for me to be so far away from my dear friends as they go through this heart-wrenching experience, and I want so badly to help. I am guessing many of you are feeling the same way. That is why I have started this GoFundMe for the Young family. While we cannot take away this hard journey of recovery for Elyse, or the long nights of worry for Craig and Annemarie, we can certainly help relieve some of the financial stress and take that significant anxiety off their plates for a bit so they can all focus on healing.
