Hi, my name is Elsie and I live and work in Savannah, GA. Someone recently brought Covid to my job and infected myself and some of my other immunocompromised co-workers despite our best efforts to keep the office clean and healthy.
I live paycheck to paycheck and have been in the progress of getting back on my feet after off and on bouts of homelessness and suddenly being unable to work for a week has severely impacted my life.
My sublease ends August 31st and I am now short money I need to begin my next lease. The savings I did have were depleted by work emergencies last month. ( I am car-less and my ride was let go during a heat wave and I had to Uber to and from work. I have POTS, taking the bus and walking in real feel 115+ conditions would have hospitalized me ). What I had begun to save up again as a buffer has been spent trying to keep myself hydrated, fed, medicated and tested during this time. ( I share a kitchen and would be risking other compromised people by lingering in it and attempting to cook. I also don't feel well enough to stand and attempt to cook. )
Any money donated goes to rent and security deposit, of which I believe I am roughly $400 short but I'll know for sure on my next paycheck. Anything beyond that goes to groceries and medical expenses, especially what is necessary for me to get back to work with a negative test.
Anything helps! If you got this far, I really really appreciate you reading this. Thank you.
