Hello. I'm organizing this fundraiser for Elsa Jemy Arevalo Castillo who is bravely fighting an incredibly difficult battle with breast cancer. I wanted to create a space where we can come together to support her and her family through prayers, messages and donations.

In April, our dear friend's life changed in a way no one ever imagines. A wife, a mom of 3 amazing daughters, and one of the kindest, most beautiful souls learned she had breast cancer in the most heartbreaking and insensitive way imaginable.

While driving home from dinner with her husband and daughters, Elsa received a cold, blunt phone call from an assistant at the doctor's office telling her she needed to see an oncologist. When she asked, "What are you saying? Do you mean I have cancer?", the answer was simply "Yes, you do." No compassion. No warmth or support. Just a moment that shattered her world.

Since then Elsa has met every step of this battle with courage, grace and a deep trust in God that continues to carry her through the hardest days.

In May, Elsa underwent a mastectomy where doctors also removed 5 of her lymph nodes. Since June 2, Elsa has been deep into chemotherapy - painful, exhausting and life-altering. Because she is young, doctors told her that the chemo has to be aggressive to help lessen the chances of the cancer spreading.

Elsa has been unable to work since the end of May and her family is doing everything they can to stay strong through the emotional, physical and financial strain. Her three daughters, Alison, Keren, and Abby are incredible young women, and her husband, Onelio is a loving, gentle, hardworking man who supports the family with everything he has. They live humbly, and this journey has put a tremendous financial strain on them. Through it all, Elsa's heart has never dimmed. She remains loving, spiritual, and full of light - even on the hardest days.

Our goal is to help ease that burden - even a little - so she can focus on healing, being there for her daughters and getting through treatment with the dignity and support she deserves.
