My name is Aubrey, and most of you know our little girl, Eloïse. Our daughter had her first UTI at 10 weeks old. She has urinary reflux; basically, her ureters are not implanted enough in her bladder. After lots of testing, they figured out that it was urinary reflux, which means that her valves in her bladder don’t work well and can be fixed by surgery.
We set up surgery for her on May 16th at 23 months, as we needed to wait for her to grow to be able to get the surgery. She was on prophylactic antibiotics every day before her surgery. Everything went well the day of surgery with one night at the hospital, then home the next day. Unfortunately, we had some big complications in the night. She was not producing any urine output throughout the night. They kept her one more night to monitor her, but still no pee! Her ureters swelled up shut, so no urine was getting to the bladder. Lots of fluids built up in her kidneys and overall body.
After meeting with so many doctors, surgeons, and nurses, they decided to put drain tubes directly in her kidneys to drain the fluids out. Here we are, back in surgery with our almost 2-year-old who is just so uncomfortable. It was supposed to be a 1-night stay, and we are now looking at a two-week stay in Portland.
Your donation would help pay for part of her medical bills, food for us while we stay in the hospital, and lodging while we stay in Portland, as we need to find a place to stay close to Portland Children’s Hospital for 2 weeks since we live in Bend. Thank you for all the support we have been getting, and thank you for all the future support to make our little girl healthy again.
