My heart aches to say that after 42 years of calling Ohio home, it's no longer safe for my transgender daughter, Elly, to live here. Recent legislation has made it increasingly difficult for transgender individuals to live authentically and safely.

Elly is an extraordinary and loving young person with dreams and aspirations just like any other teenager. She knows who she is and has lived her authentic self for the last 10 years. The school system she’s in has been overwhelmingly supportive and it hurts watching their efforts toward inclusion be hamstrung by legislation.

As such, the environment here in Ohio has made it difficult for her to thrive and feel secure. I know that relocating to a more accepting and inclusive area can provide her with the opportunities and support she needs to flourish.

As a single working mom without financial support we're facing an uphill battle. In spite of all our challenges I'm determined to find a new home where Elly can thrive and be accepted for who she truly is. Your support will help us cover the immense costs associated with relocating, such as:

* Security deposit and first month's rent for a new apartment

* Moving expenses for our belongings

* Legal fees for transferring residency and other necessary paperwork

* Transportation costs for scouting out potential new communities

* Funds to establish ourselves in a new state, including finding a new doctor and support network for Elly

We were fortunate to get Elly’s blockers last year before Ohio passed the healthcare ban but puberty blockers don’t last forever, typically a couple years. Now we have to be out of the state before she needs to have it removed and replaced or starts HRT.
