Support Ellis Powell’s Road to Recovery

By the tail end of 2024, Ellis Jerry Powell’s life took an unexpected and devastating turn. He suffered a series of aneurysms that led to critical medical interventions, including the placement of multiple stents in January. Unfortunately, complications arose, and as a result, Ellis lost part of one leg just above the knee. Sadly, he is now facing the possibility of needing to amputate the other leg, too.

After spending two months in and out of the ICU, Ellis has finally stabilized enough to transition to a residential rehab facility in Oakland. While he is healing well, his journey is far from over. The road ahead will require immense strength, patience, and resources as he learns to adapt to life as an amputee.

We are coming together to raise a Dignity Fund—a way to ensure Ellis has what he needs to recover fully and reclaim his independence. These funds will help cover but may not be limited to:

• Medical and rehabilitation costs not covered by insurance

• Prosthetic fittings and mobility aids

• Modifications for accessibility

• Daily living expenses as he adjusts to this new chapter

Ellis has always been someone who shows up for his community, and now it’s our turn to show up for him. Every donation, no matter the size, brings him one step closer to regaining his quality of life.
