Support Ellis and Leighala's Cancer Battle

Friends and allies of our MOST beautiful brother in Soul, Ellis Hall: Ellis and his wife Leighala need our help. Leighala has been diagnosed with Uterine Cancer, and as we all know, the costs of a diagnosis like that, even with “Health Insurance”, immediately overwhelm those of us in the world of music. WAY beyond what insurance covers is the cost of travel, lodging, specialists, loss of income, co-pays, medicines, therapies, “deductibles”, “Out Of Pocket Maximums”, and on and on. Leighala had a surgery done at the end of October, but as anyone who’s dealt with cancer diagnoses is well aware, that is just the beginning of a very long journey, and the beginning of a bill that just never ends. And to complicate things further, Leighala was re-admitted today to deal with COVID complications.

Ellis is way more than a legend to those who know him. Those who know him know him as the kindest, most beautiful, most SOULFUL soul they’ve ever met, and Leighala right there with him. Leighala is Ellis’s eyes, his manager, his confidant, his ally, his right hand and he her left. They come absolutely as a team, and they really could use our help now as they face the medical gauntlet together. I have been working with Ellis over the past year and a half to make an incredible Soul/R&B record as WHAT!!!!, a duo with this musician I’ve always dreamed of working with. And that journey with both Ellis and Leighala has been nothing but a pure joy. Ellis, of course, has been blowing people away for decades, 4 years as the voice and keyboard power behind Tower of Power, years as the Ray Charles Experience, performances with Michael McDonald, Earth, Wind and Fire, the Spinners, Patti Labelle, and if you didn’t know, he was the “Lead Raisin” in the California Raisins. Yes, that’s Ellis singing “Heard It Through The Grapevine” as…a RAISIN, y’all!

Way before we got together she was, and still is moving, shaking and shaping the world into a loving and brighter place through film, television, theater and music where she managed and performed with the Krystina Arielle, the BANC band (Benevolent Artist’s National Charities), Parliament Funkadelic, the SOS Band, Gap Band, and with Charlie Wilson to name just a few

I know that she, and we, will approach this challenge with the faith we have always lived our lives through. That being said, we honestly appreciate any financial assistance you can deliver and with that uplift we will see you again through God‘s grace in concert, where we all celebrate the victory of that Chakalaka, joyous spirit.
