Hi my name is Jessy, I would like to share with you a story of hope and faith. In March of 2025 we were told that our unborn baby likely had polycystic kidney disease. With ultrasound testing showing her kidneys looked like a textbook case. Less than 2 weeks later the doctors decided to take Ellie early at 34 weeks gestation. To everyone's surprise Ellie had good lungs which was the best possible outcome for her survival. Since her birth, Ellie was born with kidney failure, has been diagnosed with ARPKD (Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease) and has been in the NICU. Around 4 weeks old Ellie had both kidneys removed and will be on dialysis until she is old enough to have a transplant. She has fought off multiple infections, had several surgeries and she just has this strength in her.

Anna was able to hold Ellie when she was born for about an hour, since then it wasn't until recently that both of us got to hold our baby girl!

She is off the ventilator and getting closer to coming home every day!

As hard as it was, we both had to return home to return to work, which is 4 hours away from the specialty hospital Ellie is in the care of. At times Anna and I would drive up several times a week and as finances are now running dry, we make the drive once a week to spend a few hours with her and then to drive back home. The cost of making that travel every weekend has become a hardship.

Ellie is a warrior, she had defined all the odds and she just made it to 116 days old! She will be coming home and our goal is to maintain finances so that Ellie has a home to come to.

Anna and I work for the same company and the employer has been very accommodating allowing us both the time off when we need it. Since birth we both have returned to work but also have had to take a lot of time off. We have taken a financial hit. Having to make the decision to spend the funds to visit our daughter 4 hours away or save the funds to pay the bills to maintain our home for Ellie.

The funds will go towards allowing Anna and I to continue to visit Ellie until she comes home. Once she comes home, both of us will have to take time off from work for the training on how to use the dialysis machine, which we are told is a 2 week course. The funds will also go towards maintaining our bills needed to maintain our home and medical bills.
