Elliana’s Fight for Life: Our miracle warriors journey -
On the day we welcomed our daughter Elliana into the world, we imagined hearing her first cry and holding her close. Instead, we were met with silence, flashing monitors, and a team of doctors rushing to save her life.
Elliana was born premature with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a rare and life-threatening birth defect where a hole in the diaphragm allows abdominal organs to move into the chest, preventing the lungs from developing properly. For Elliana, this meant her tiny lungs couldn’t give her the oxygen she needed to survive.
Within days of birth, our little girl was placed on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) and was one of the youngest in the nation to be on this kind of life support. It is a machine that acts as her heart and lungs, giving her fragile body the chance to rest and heal. She has faced more procedures, tests, and challenges in her first days than many endure in a lifetime.
Every day in the NICU is a rollercoaster — moments of hope followed by moments of fear. We celebrate every small victory: a stable heartbeat, a gentle squeeze of our finger, a few minutes without alarms going off. Elliana is a fighter, but her journey is far from over.
The road so far has included multiple surgeries, months in the NICU without a date on when she can come home, and constant monitoring. The emotional, physical, and financial strain on our family is overwhelming — between traveling to and from the hospital which is not close to home and time away from work, we are leaning on our community for support in helping our family stay by her side through every step of this journey. We believe Elliana was born to show the world the meaning of strength and hope. With your love, prayers, and generosity, we know she can overcome this battle.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for walking alongside us in Elliana’s fight for life.
If you are able, please consider donating to help support our family during this difficult time. Every dollar, prayer, and share means the world to us.
