Support Ellena's Fight Against MDS (Pre-leukemia)
Donation protected

I'm here again to ask for your generosity for the deserving family who just needs a little help from the community. I received this message from Ellena's mother today:
"Costs have really ramped up and for the first time in 8 years we're negative in all our accounts. The thing that’s killing us most is gas. For the last month we have travelled over 100 miles almost daily because we were (very blessed) to be doing the egg cryopreservation, then immediately prepping for transplant. My husbands truck gets 18 miles per gallon and costs $60 to fill, so as you can imagine the gas has been ridiculous and now we are struggling so bad, I used every bit of savings including savings for my kids birthdays and Christmas that we start saving in January. I’m so broke I can’t even buy butter right now and I used a gas can in the garage to top off my tank to make it to the hospital today. I didn’t want to ask for more help but we’re drowning and I’m losing it."
Please consider making a contribution to the family for travel costs associated with continuous treatment for Ellena and also for the family to have grocery money.
Original post:
My name is Angela and I am raising funds on behalf of my dear, lifelong friend Melony and her family. Melony took her 16 year old daughter, Ellena to a routine doctors appointment where they ran routine blood work. Unfortunately, the results were anything but routine and Melony was devastated to learn that her vivacious, high-spirited eldest daughter has leukemia. Within days of the original doctors appointment they were admitted to TX Children's Hospital in the oncology unit. She began treatment immediately.
Thankfully, TX Children's Hospital has tons of resources and Melony and her husband are taking advantage and utilizing everything they possibly can. However, as we all know, there are costs associated with this that stretch far beyond the stay in the hospital.
Melony and her husband, Andrew (a retired Army Veteran) also share three younger children ranging from ages 12 years all the way to 18 months of age. Their home is an hour and a half drive to the hospital so gas costs are adding up. Dad is now employed at the local prison in Conroe and managing the middle boys while mom stays at the hospital with her daughter, and thankfully she is allowed to bring her youngest daughter as well, who is 18 months old.
This family has worked so hard to get to their dream home. Andrew has been career army for most of their lives and he finally retired and they JUST purchased their dream home. You can imagine how earth shattering this news is to them.
If you have it in your heart to make a monetary contribution to this worthy family, please do. Any amount counts. Whether it's $5 or $20, it adds up and anything helps.
Above all pray for them. For Ellena who must be so scared, for Melony and Andrew who are faced with the worst news any parent could ever hear, and who still have to hold it together for Ellena and their other 3 children. Pray for Ellena's brothers who must be so confused to have their family split up while mom stays in the hospital with their big sister. Prayer for Ellena's doctors and nurses. Just pray for healing.
We all know she is going to beat this! Let's help relieve her parents stress by a molecule by relieving a small portion of their financial stress so they can focus on what matters. Their children.
