Support Ella's Journey Back to Mum Wiki

Donation protected
Hi, we are the friends of Ella Gobald and we are fundraising in an effort to help shed some of the financial burden she is experiencing. Below is a brief explanation of her mom's current journey and why Ella is needing to travel home. It's not a big secret that Ella is enjoying her time in Kentucky between the University and the new friends she has made over the last year; so we wanted to share this opportunity with her new family in Kentucky. Please take a minute to read about her family's story and donate as you are able, to assist the Gobald Family.

My mums name is Wiki Gobald, she is 62 years young!

For those who had the chance to meet her in the fall (November, 2023) I would really like to take the time to thank you for welcoming her and if you had the chance to introduce yourself and chat with her she is all the more grateful to now put a face to a name!
Mum was able to experience the Rupp takeover with countless volleyball matches (which were her favorite!), a couple men’s basketball games (with thanks to Melissa Gleason and Emily Dent for the tickets). She was also able to experience her first ever football game. With a sip or two of bourbon in between the business of crossover season.

She is 62 years young and was just diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer which has caused lesions to form around her body. She is preparing to undergo a complex treatment of intense chemotherapy, radiation and a new tablet form of treatment after May 6th.
After fighting breast cancer 15 years ago, she is no stranger to putting up a big fight and winning- just like we do here at Kentucky.

At this time our family would appreciate as many thoughts and prayers as possible as it will be a tough couple months. Any donations made will be used directly to fund my flights back to Perth, Australia where mum is undergoing treatment and will also be put towards ensuring she has the best medical care available.

While we are natives to New Zealand yet reside in Australia. One thing we say during this time of fight in Māori culture is “Kia Kaha” meaning stay strong.
