The last time we started a GoFundMe, the community showed up and showed out for our family. Every single dollar, share on social media, and prayer got us through the nightmare that is neuroblastoma. Eliza is cancer-free; however, the chemo has taken quite the toll on her little body. Eliza was admitted back into the ICU at Riley Hospital and spent nearly a month sedated and on a ventilator. Obviously, her parents have been by her side the entire time and have found themselves back in a financial predicament due to this. Below is a testament from her mother, with more information as to what the future is going to look like for them. Their lives are changing drastically, and they are going to need as much help as they can get. Speaking on behalf of our entire family, thank you. We are extremely grateful for the support of our friends and the community.
With Eliza’s new diagnosis and this new life we are all going to have to figure out how to live, we need a little help again. Eric is Eliza’s rock. She gets her comfort from her mommy, but Eric is her big strong protective daddy, and that’s what she has needed this past month and a half. Eric has once again put his business on hold to ensure Eliza feels safe and taken care of, but the bills are piling up again. The expenses of living in the hospital are high.
Also, Eliza will be required to have a home nurse a few days/nights a week, which we’ve been told Medicaid will pay for. The other days and nights, it will just be me and Eric making it work. We have to do training and classes to even be allowed to take care of our daughter. When we do get to go home, Eliza will not be allowed to be alone for any period of time. This includes sitting in the backseat of the car by herself, sitting in the living room while I go to the basement to do laundry, or while I clean the kitchen, etc. If Eric isn’t home and I need to go to the store, I’d have to get someone to drive me. That’s just a few things on top of a list of normal things we won’t be able to do anymore. Eric is going to have to be home a lot more than we are used to for the foreseeable future. This is going to be a long, hard road, and we weren’t even financially recovered from the first long, hard road. We are proud people, and we do not like to ask for help, but when it comes to ensuring our daughter is taken care of and safe, we will do anything we can.
