My name is Elizabeth Edoukoi. I am a senior Biomedical Sciences major with a minor in Chemistry, and I’m thrilled to share some exciting news: I’ve been accepted into the C.E.L.A. Global Healthcare Medical Shadowing Program in Chiang Mai, Thailand!

In January 2026, I’ll be spending two weeks shadowing healthcare professionals across various hospital departments, including Emergency Medicine, Thai Traditional Medicine, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, and more. This experience will give me hands-on exposure to global healthcare systems while also deepening my understanding of patient care in diverse settings.

In addition to shadowing, I will be participating in two days of community service volunteering in clinics, schools, and rural hospitals. This is the part of the program where we give back to the incredible city of Chiang Mai for welcoming us.

This opportunity is deeply meaningful to me, not just academically, but personally. It has been a dream of mine to visit the beautiful country of Thailand and immerse myself in its rich culture of the city of Chiang Mai. Studying abroad has always been a goal of mine, and C.E.L.A. Global Healthcare is the perfect way to combine that dream with my passion for medicine.

As early as I can remember, I wanted to become a doctor. For every career day, I proudly wore my white coat and stethoscope. When most kids would cry at the thought of going to the doctor, but not me! I looked forward to mine, eager to chat with my pediatrician and imagine myself in their place one day.

I have a chance to take a big step closer to my lifelong dream.

The program cost comes to about $8,500. This includes airfare, meals, tuition, accommodations, and other travel expenses. I would be sincerely grateful for your support, no matter the amount, that would make going on this trip a reality.
