Liz has been fighting breast cancer on and off for over a decade. Over the years of her life being interrupted by this miserable disease, she's had to endure multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and painful surgeries. She is currently recovering from a particularly difficult reconstruction surgery and is still unable to work while her body heals. Through every setback, she has continued to push forward, determined to keep going for the people she loves most.

During this long battle, she has gone through much of her life savings just trying to stay afloat—paying for rent, bills, and mounting medical expenses. Now she has been forced to begin withdrawing from her retirement just to cover everyday living costs while she recovers. Liz shares a small two-bedroom apartment with her 10-year-old daughter, Lizzy, and has done everything she can to protect her daughter's sense of stability and normalcy through all of this.

Elizabeth is the kind of person who would drop everything to help a friend, loved one, or even a stranger in need. She has the most open and kind heart and is a fiercely loyal mom, sister, daughter, and friend who is loved deeply by so many people. Her love of nature, animals, and the outdoors reflects the kind of grounded, “salt of the earth” person she is—someone who takes nothing for granted and gives so much of herself to others.

Her daughter Lizzy is a special needs child who loves spending time with her mom and family. As her biggest advocate, Liz plays a critical role in her well-being, education, growth, and instilling in her the love of God and nature. Lizzy has an innocent, sweet, and silly spirit, and she needs her mom more than anything. She may not realize now how strong her mom is to have been fighting this disease while holding it all together. And now, even after so many grueling years, Liz is still fighting strong and winning, because she wants to be there for her daughter and build a stable, hopeful future for them both.
