I am a single mother doing my best to support my two children—my 24-year-old daughter, who is working hard in nursing school, and my 19-year-old son, who is taking steps to enlist in the army. Recently, my world was turned upside down when I was diagnosed with triple positive invasive ductal breast cancer. The stage is currently 2/3, but I am still waiting for more testing to confirm if there is one tumor or two, as well as the extent of lymph node involvement. As I begin treatment, I am on Paid Family Medical Leave, but it’s not enough to cover our basic bills like rent, food, electricity, and car payments.

The financial strain has been overwhelming, especially as I try to keep our home stable for my children while facing the uncertainty of my diagnosis. Every day is a challenge, and I am doing everything I can to stay strong for my family. The costs of medical care, co-pays, transportation, and even parking add up quickly, making it even harder to make ends meet.
