It's become clear that there needs to be some karmic financial help for my dad's best friend, Elizabeth Allan, who I also consider family.

Her health situation has cratered dramatically and suddenly, which has put her in the hospital half a dozen times in the last three months. She could really use some support, and I cannot emphasize this enough: *Any amount helps* ... even $1, as Elizabeth and I have discussed.

Due to lack of timeliness and urgency from her primary doctor to put her on disability (he was 65 days late!). Now after 4 months of waiting without any income, her disability application has been denied and she must appeal. She has been struggling with this situation since then, doing everything she can to follow up, and now the livelihood of her 13-year old son Carter and their home in Lodi are in jeopardy. All of these financial troubles stem from a unexpected but very dire health situation, that could be fatal.

Please consider contributing to Elizabeth and Carter North, so she can get the health care she needs and so that they can both continue being the positive people they truly are in this world.

Housing costs, child costs and groceries are urgent. Keeping her cell phone active for doctor appointments and paying car bills is extremely important to keep getting through her treatment plans. If Elizabeth is unable to provide the financial support for her son until her relief comes in, he will have to live at his fathers for the school year, which is something that would break Carter and Elizabeth's heart.

Elizabeth tested positive for an autoimmune disease, and must see a hepatology specialist, a rheumatologist, and cardiologist (three separate things, liver, autoimmune and for her heart).

The first regarding her liver enzymes, which are above 200 but supposed to be in 30s. 269 and 169 (liver enzymes), both supposed to be 30-40, and the second to test for what autoimmune disease she may have.

The heart condition is new. A pulmonary effusion has been found, and her heart rate has been dropping significantly when she is active. She suffers from anxiety, you’d think heart rate would be high, but it usually is at 42 BPM at the ER, several times going into the 30's.

This might be Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) or Lupis, (our best guesses based on the information and symptoms) the doctors are not sure yet (her pertinent Rheumatologist appointment isn’t until August) But a new heart condition has now also presented itself.

She is getting pushback at every turn, from the doctor delaying urgency in treatment, prescribing medications that could have worsened her condition to fatality, to keeping her informed and fulfilling his duties, with no help from the patient advocate center at all so far, until it was too late to get help from the state financially.

Next week, she will be wearing a heart holster for a week to monitor her vitals at all times, and go back for an echocardiogram. Hepatology specialist called to say she must get a liver ultrasound and then a biopsy to rule out Viral Hepatitis. (Easy procedure, stick a needle in your side, not invasive, but it’s still not fun, and it needs to get done)

Elizabeth has worked extensively in hospitality, specifically as the front office manager at Holiday Inn Express in Lodi.

Elizabeth has asked her father, her only living parent for help, but he refuses to contribute anything to to his daughter and his grandkid, nor resist the absurd urge to blame Elizabeth for not getting herself together — clearly not knowing that 2020s in the U.S. is not the same as back in the 1990s. He certainly has the funds to help, as he works at Pacific Medical, Inc., which “is a recognized leader in education, patient care, sales, service, and distribution across the rehabilitation and surgical orthopedics markets.”

Elizabeth does not have a big circle of family and there are no family members that can financially support Elizabeth until her disability appeal is approved.

She was massively helpful, supportive, kind and caring in befriending my dad and building a strong relationship — best friends! — when he was recovering from alcoholism and needed such love. Us three kids of his have always been appreciative of Elizabeth — even if it was from afar (far too afar, until the last couple years).

By the way, Elizabeth is at the point where she expressed to me regretting skipping a job interview in to go to the hospital for a separate health concern that eventually turned up this much more serious set of conditions. She just told me "In an alternate universe, I wouldn't even know I was sick and I'd just be in pain in my back, but whatever..." ................... Not cool, universe!!!
