I broke a glass french press in my dominant hand. I cut it really deep, and severed my tendon. So I cannot use my right hand for almost anything.
If you know me, you know my hands are everything. I paint, sew, make cosplays, make content and build weird little projects. I create constantly. That’s not just what I do — it’s who I am. So not being able to use my dominant hand isn’t just painful… it’s honestly terrifying.
I’m not good at asking for help. I like handling my own stuff. So, being in a position where I can’t just push through and fix it myself is uncomfortable as hell. But its where I am right now.
I am getting surgery tomorrow. I’ve already been out of work for two weeks, and after surgery it’ll be at least another couple of weeks before I can start occupational therapy. The healing timeline is uncertain, and as a self-employed creator, time off work means income stops completely. Between surgery, therapy, and regular bills, the financial weight is stacking up.
I’m used to handling things on my own, so asking for help doesn’t come naturally. But this is one of those moments where community makes a difference.
If you’d like to support me, I’m raising funds for:
• Surgery — $5,000
• Occupational therapy — ~$1,500
• Basic living expenses during recovery — $2,000
If you donate, share this, bring a meal, send a good show recommendation, or just check in — it all helps. Truly.
I want to heal. I want to get back to creating. And your support gives me security that I will.
TL;DR:
I severely injured my dominant hand and need surgery. I can’t work right now, and recovery + medical bills are stacking up. I’m determined to heal and get back to creating — and any support (financial, meals, encouragement, sharing) helps more than you know.
So many thanks,
Elixir
