While in the service of the Thunderdome at Burning Man this past week, our own Elise Mesnard suffered a sudden rapid brake to her hand and dislocation of a tendon in her finger. She was assisting a participant during a match and in the heat of the chaos the baton was rapidly grabbed in such a way that caused an oblique fracture of her fourth metacarpal, complete with bone displacement...in her dominant hand.
This would be a frustrating and painful injury for anyone, especially since it requires surgery. But for Elise, who supports herself full-time as an artist, this risks being financially devastating, especially as she heads into the busiest art vending season of the year without the ability to create.
Elise has been an integral part of our Thunderdome community since 2014. In the dome she officiates matches and hands off our implements of destruction. She leads our scaffolding builds and shows up to work/build/clean wherever she can in camp. She has helped out with our fundraisers as well as designed some of the artwork on both our crew swag and public merch. Please donate what you can to help her to get through this incredibly challenging time.
