Support Elise After Hendrix's Sudden Loss

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share some devastating news. Elise’s two year old French bulldog, Hendrix, passed away suddenly from a degenerative spinal condition common in French Bulldogs.

Hendrix woke up paralyzed in his back legs without any warning. After rushing him to emergency vets and getting an MRI and spinal tap at Auburn University Hospital, he was diagnosed with Myelomalacia — a rare, aggressive disease that causes the spinal cord to deteriorate. There is no cure and no way to manage the pain. The only choice left was to end his suffering. It’s a decision no parent should ever have to make.

Hendrix wasn’t just a pet — he was pure joy wrapped in a wiggly little body, always bringing light wherever he went. He made every day better just by being here.  French bulldogs already have heartbreakingly short lifespans, but losing Hendrix at just 2 is an unimaginable loss.

On top of her grief, Elise is now facing steep medical bills from all the emergency care. We’re trying to help ease that burden so she can focus on healing and remembering Hendrix the way he deserves to be remembered — as the sweet, joyful soul he was.

While Elise was given Hendrix, this situation has shed light on the truly heinous nature of frenchie breeding and has inspired Elise to try and turn Hendrix’s short life into something that will make a difference.
