Hi, my name is Elisabeth, and on October 9th, 2025, I will undergo my fourth surgery for stage 5 endometriosis—and my second excision surgery. Endometriosis is a devastating disease that causes severe pain, organ damage, and fertility problems for millions worldwide. It affects not just the body but also mental health, as living with constant pain takes an enormous toll.
I had my first excision in October 2021, just five months after a previous ablation in May 2021. Despite the relief those surgeries brought, my symptoms have returned and worsened. After my recent consult at Mass General OBGYN in Boston, my surgeon unexpectedly moved me up from an expected December date to surgery next week. While I am grateful not to wait longer in pain, the sudden timeline has left me financially unprepared.
My expected out-of-pocket cost is $5,000, not including recovery expenses like transportation, medications, or time off from work. To make things harder, this expense comes right after being suddenly laid off from my healthcare job, a loss that was both devastating and destabilizing. My family is doing its best, but we are struggling to make ends meet, especially after I had to join my spouse Dom’s insurance plan.
I am asking for help—something that does not come easily to me. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward covering my surgical bill and recovery costs so I can focus on healing and reclaiming my quality of life. Most importantly, I want to get back to doing what I love—being out in nature.
If you cannot give, please consider sharing this page with others who may want to support. Your kindness means more than words can express.
With gratitude,
Elisabeth
