Support Elijah's Recovery After Motorcycle Accident
Donation protected
I'm raising funds to help pay for my boyfriend's medical expenses following a serious motorcycle accident. On Wednesday, July 17th, Elijah Marks was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him with serious injuries. He was found down by a good Samaritan who called 911. He was transported by ambulance to the emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato. He was intubated and had an ICP bolt inserted into his skull to measure his intracranial pressure while he was in the ER. He was accepted into the ICU at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato that same night.
Elijah was found to have multiple skull fractures, a brain bleed, and an L2 transverse process fracture. His brain is bruised on the left side due to a blow to the right side of his head and he also has road rash on the right side of his body. Elijah was taken off of the ventilator on Saturday, July 20th. He is doing a great job of breathing on his own and keeping his oxygen saturation up. He is now working on clearing the sedatives from his system and waking up. This process is much harder than it may seem and is accompanied by confusion, disorientation, and agitation. Elijah is making great progress, but he still has a long way to go in his recovery.
The funds that are raised will be used to cover Elijah's medical bills, as he will be unable to work until he has recovered more. His doctors anticipate the need for rehabilitative services after he is discharged from the hospital. Neurological rehab services would only be offered in Rochester or the Twin Cities. The funds will also be used to cover the price of gas for traveling back and forth for these services. Please consider donating so that Elijah can focus fully on his recovery and not worry about the bills for his medical care. Please share Elijah's story so that we can make his recovery as smooth as possible.
