Support Elijah's Recovery After Liver Donation
Donation protected
My name is Dawn Kopp. I am the Borough Secretary for the Borough of Big Run. I am raising money to help one of our council members, Elijah Hollopeter. Elijah became a living liver donor November 29, 2024. He first met Missy, the person in need of a liver, when she started attending his church. She became fast friends with his wife. Over the years, Missy become seriously ill. We kept praying for a miracle and that's when he learned that she was in need of a living liver donor. He filled out the application to be screened and went through the process informing his employer this was a possibility. He received a call that the transplant team wanted to do testing Wednesday, November 20th. They explained the process thoroughly and he realized this was much bigger than he expected but if there was something that could be done for Missy, he wanted to do it. The following Tuesday, the transplant team met and decided he was the best chance she had for a transplant and called him Wednesday and notified him they wanted to do the surgery that Friday. The day after Thanksgiving. Things moved very fast. He let his employer know and was in Pittsburgh Friday and the successful transplant was done. As of this date, they are both doing well. However, Elijah has quite a bit of recovery ahead of him. He will be unable to work for at least two months possibly a bit longer. He has a wife and three children that will be without his income while he is recovering. This man was selfless in his regard for others. He is a great Borough Councilman and a great human being. Please consider donating to this fund and show Elijah and his family support as he recovers from this selfless act of kindness. Thank you!
***A Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser is also being planned for January 4 at the Big Run War Memorial***
