Terry was more than a police officer — he was my husband, a son, a brother, an uncle, a nephew, a friend and the most devoted father to our 3 year old son, Elijah. From the moment Terry became a dad, everything he did was for his family. He took pride in providing for us and creating memories, big and small. Some of Elijah’s happiest moments were the simplest ones — riding with his dad to the store, laughing in the car, or going on family trips. Terry was especially proud that, through his career as an MPD officer, he was able to take Elijah to Disney World twice before he even turned two. Those moments meant everything to him.

Terry loved football, but he loved education and mentorship even more. A Southeast D.C. native and Ballou High School alumnus, he returned home to serve the same community that raised him. He spent over a decade coaching football and mentoring young people, always reminding them to be proud of where they came from. To so many, he was “Coach Terry.” To us, he was home.

Terry was taken from us while doing what he always did — helping someone in need. While our family is still learning how to live with this loss, my greatest focus now is Elijah. This fundraiser is dedicated to his future — his education, his care, and the dreams he will grow into. Though Terry is no longer here physically, his love, values, and legacy will continue to live on through our son.
