Hi, I’m Elijah! I’m a junior at UNCA studying climatology, and I’ve faced many challenges as a first-generation college student. I’ve worked hard to get this far, but this Fall I’m facing a financial gap that could force me to pause my studies. This Summer, I started a GoFundMe for the same reason, and thanks to your generosity, I was able to continue my education into this Fall, and I’m so grateful!

This semester has been especially challenging financially. UNCA has faced enrollment declines, and the University has been greatly affected by Hurricane Helene, which has made covering tuition even harder. The financial aid office has even suggested I reconsider continuing here… but I’m so close to finishing my degree that giving up now would be a setback I can’t afford.

The total cost I need to cover is $9,900. I don’t expect donations to cover the full amount, but over Winter break, I plan to work hard to pay a big portion myself, and my parents are able to help as well. I still need support to stay enrolled and continue toward my degree.

I’ve completed two years and I am about to finish my third year… I’m so close to graduating! With your help, I can continue my education without delaying graduation and pursue my dream career in climate research. Every donation, big or small, brings me closer to that goal.
