Hello, my name is Oya, and I’m reaching out for my dear friend, Elif. We've been friends for 39 years, and in that time, I have witnessed her incredible strength and unwavering positivity. But now, Elif is facing the fight of her life, and she needs us more than ever. Here is her story in her own words...

The Fight of My Life: Support Elif's Battle Against Angiosarcoma Cancer

Hello, I'm Elif, and since 2020, I've been battling cancer with everything I have. I was diagnosed with angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects only a few people worldwide. When I found out this type of cancer had been detected in just 217 people globally - especially when it appeared in the breast - it felt like a harsh reminder of the reality I’m facing.

Over the past years, I’ve undergone 9 surgeries, 21 rounds of chemotherapy, and the Smart Medicine process—each treatment an attempt to rebirth myself and keep fighting. But now, the disease has progressed. Active tumor cells were detected in my blood, and my doctor has recommended immunotherapy as my only hope for survival. Specifically, I need a treatment called Keytruda (Pembrolizumab). This drug is my last and most effective option against this aggressive cancer, but unfortunately, it’s extremely expensive and not covered by insurance.

At Ankara Memorial Hospital in Turkey, each dose of Keytruda costs 132,000 TL, ($3656 USD) and the full course of treatment will total 2 million 244,000 TL, ($62,152 USD). This amount is more than my family and I can afford. We've already spent everything we had just to keep my treatment going, but we are at a critical point now, and I need your help to continue this fight for my life.

My family, including my 15-year-old son, my mother, and my siblings, have been my source of strength through this journey. I want to live for them—and I need your help to do that. Time is my enemy, and I must start this treatment as soon as possible.

Even the smallest contribution will be a huge source of hope for me. It will remind me that I am not alone in this fight, and that there are people out there who care and are willing to support me.

Hayatımın Mücadelesi: Elif’in Anjiosarkom Kanseriyle Savaşına Destek Olun

Merhaba, ben Elif. Kanserle 2020 yılından bu yana süren bir savaşın içindeyim ve asla pes etmeyi düşünmüyorum. Anjiosarkom, milyonda bir görülen çok nadir bir kanser türü. Özellikle memede ortaya çıktığında, dünya genelinde sadece 217 kişide görüldüğünü öğrendiğimde, yaşadığım gerçekliği bir kez daha hissettim. Bu hastalıkla geçirdiğim günler boyunca 9 ameliyat, 21 doz kemoterapi ve Akllı İlaç süreciyle birlikte birçok acı yaşadım; tüm bunları her seferinde yeniden doğmak için yaptım. Ancak şimdi, kanımda aktif tümör hücrelerinin tespit edilmesi nedeniyle tedavi sürecim yeni bir aşamaya geçmek zorunda kaldı. Doktorumun önerdiği immunoterapi, bu agresif kanser türü için tek ve en etkili çare olarak öne çıkıyor ancak tedavi süreci oldukça pahalı. Ne yazık ki bu tedavi devlet tarafından karşılanmıyor ve çok maliyetli. Tedavimi şu anda Ankara Memorial Hastanesi'nde sürdürüyorum. Keytruda (pembrolizumab) adındaki bu ilacın her bir dozu 132.000 TL. Tam tedavi sürecinin maliyeti ise tam 2 milyon 244.000 TL. Bu noktada hayatımı kurtaracak tedaviyi sürdürebilmek için şimdiye kadar elimizde ne varsa harcandı. Ailemle birlikte bu zamana kadar verdiğimiz savaşı daha da sürdürebilmek için sizlerin yardımına ihtiyacım var. Tedaviye bir an önce başlamalıyım; çünkü zaman, benim için en büyük düşman!

Hayatımın en kıymetli varlıkları 15 yaşına girmek üzere olan oğlum, annem ve kardeşlerim bana bu süreçte güç veriyor. Onlar için yaşamak ve savaşmak istiyorum. Ancak bu zor zamanlarda minik de olsa bir katkınız, beni hayata bağlayacak bir umut kaynağı olacak.
