Support Costa Rican Marcus Garvey Project
Donation protected
Hey y’all, I’m excited to announce my first Costa Rican project, woohoo! I’ll be serving as Executive Producer for my dear friend and cultural collaborator Elia Arce’s latest project, a devised work entitled “The Trial of Marcus Garvey,” adapted from the short play “Miss Sugar’s Garvey” by Houston native and award-winning playwright J.D. Franklin. I’m thrilled to be a part of this project that is being creatively produced by Limón cultural mover and shaker Cynthia Small and Elia.
Marcus Garvey’s Costa Rican legacy is not always amplified, so this new work seeks to provide a creative snapshot of an important piece of Garvey’s history. As we watch Black History being erased, we must as culture bearers keep it alive!
I’m asking you to invest in keeping Black Costa Rican history, and indeed Black Diaspora history, alive by supporting this important project with a donation. All investors making a $100 or greater donation will be listed in the program as Executive Producers, but everyone who donates will be acknowledged! The work will be staged the week of August 24, 2025 in Limón, Costa Rica and the plan is to tour it throughout Costa Rica.
