I am extending a very heartfelt plea for your prayers and positive energy for my 17-year-old niece Elena, recently diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, a very fast growing and aggressive cancer. On Monday, October 28th Elena’s life was forever changed. After rushing to the hospital they soon discovered a 16cm mass in her abdomen. She was transferred to a pediatric hospital and further testing quickly began and a treatment plan was started. Elena will stay in the hospital receiving intense chemotherapy treatments for a couple months at first, hoping to have her home with family for Christmas, then she will continue treatment into the new year.
“This is going to be one of those story’s I tell for the rest of my life, not because of the struggle, but because with my cancer I have become more in tune with myself - more than ever before. I have realized my internal strength and learned the power of family, friends, and fellow kids who are enduring this battle with me. I am strong. They are strong. Our community is strong. Even though my journey has just started, I know I am thankful it was me because there aren’t days I doubt who I am and what I am capable of doing.
This is not how I expected my Senior year of high school to go. Knowing the battle that is ahead of me, and having 2 little sisters looking up to me - I am ready to fight!
I have always been an outgoing, spontaneous, strong, funny and positive person and one thing I know is I will continue to be this way through my journey. Being surrounded by the ones who love me and have guided me make me even stronger. God has a bigger purpose and I am grateful to be part of his plan.”
Elena has a generous, beautiful heart and spirit…she is determined to beat
this! Our Wonder woman! Elena is destined to do good in our world!
The treatment is brutal as are the expenses. Please help support the family’s
courageous warrior, Elena.
Listen to the whispers of the universe. May they be positive.
