This past week has been a rollercoaster for our family. As many of you know, my dad fell again, breaking his knee cap and tearing his quadricep tendon for the second time. He was rushed to Duluth for surgery, and while the procedure went well, the surgeon gave him a serious warning: if he falls again, he will likely be wheelchair-bound for life. For those who know my dad, this is not his first brush with death. He’s battled through many health scares, but this time feels different. His growing health concerns and limited mobility have been a huge wake-up call.
My dad has been the primary financial provider for my parents, but he hasn’t been able to work since July due to his initial quadricep tear. My mom has been working hard to get him set up on SSI/DI benefits, but it’s been a difficult transition. Many of you have asked how you can help, and we are so grateful. There is a way you can reduce the financial stress during this time — by giving. Whether it’s $1, $20, or $100, every bit helps to ensure my parents are taken care of during this challenging time.
