Miss Nguyen Thi Ba is a 72 years old retired teacher in Binh Duong province, Vietnam. Although she is retired, she continues to work in the day to support a volunteer night class for underprivileged children at night.




These children do not have the opportunities to go to day school so night school is their only chance to study. To supplement her income and raise some money, Miss Ba sells lottery tickets during the day.

Her story was reported in a local newspaper in Vietnam. When I shared this story with my friends, we all were very moved by her example so my friends convinced me to do a small charity drive to support Miss Ba and her class. My current idea is that 50% of the money will go to Miss Ba for her daily expense, and the other half is going into the classroom for whatever they need (school textbooks, stationery, etc).
