Elder Grove School has proudly served our community since 1885, making us the longest running district in Montana. Over the years, our school has grown tremendously, reflecting the trust and confidence families place in us. However, despite this growth, our district has not passed a levy since 2007. This means we are still operating under nearly the same budget we had almost two decades ago, while serving hundreds more students. This financial challenge has made it increasingly difficult to provide the resources our students and teachers need to succeed.
One of our most urgent needs is a reading curriculum for our K–5 students. Our current 5 year contract ends after this school year, and without additional funding, we will not be able to renew it or look at options for a shorter contract.
High-quality curriculum is essential for maintaining strong educational standards and ensuring consistency across grade levels.
A vetted curriculum provides:
- A clear scope and sequence so all standards are taught effectively
- Consistent academic language that builds from one grade to the next
- Differentiated instructional materials to support students at all learning levels
- Reliable and accurate content for teachers
- Structured support for new teachers
Ultimately, it will help not only our students but our staff as well.
