My name is Tan, I'm a single mom in school trying to raise money to help get back on my feet to take care of my daughter who has a rare brain tumor . While I had to leave my job due to my daughter Elana, who is 6 needed brain surgery. In September, she had to have her third brain surgery. As of May 2023, she was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma, which is a rare brain tumor. Earlier this year in January, and she had her second surgery. Now she did her third round in September, which this time was a much more invasive procedure (Craniotomy). Currently, her surgery caused her to have her hormones removed, and she will still need radiation. Due to other complications , she has lost her peripheral vision, and one of her eyes is slightly shut, which does not appear to be open fully nor do we know how long it will be or if it is permanent damage . Unfortunately, there was brain fluid left behind, so she had to have a catheter inserted in her spine while in the hospital. Now, as she is recovering, she is left with a limp and drags her legs as she walks. It is truly stressful and that she now has to go back to wearing diapers after her procedure.
It is so disheartening to watch a 6-year-old go through so much so young and have physically alterations. She really is courageous for the way she disguises her pain with laughter and still remains happy. She is full of so much joy. She is so resilient. Despite her condition, she strives to be just like your average child.
I'm currently just asking for donations of any kind, so I can get back on my feet because we are currently homeless , I’m paying for medication and diapers . Due to radiation starting in July
